Genspect USA

Genspect USA exists to educate and inform gender non-conforming youth and their parents, therapists, medical professionals, legislators, and lawyers on alternative approaches to the Gender Affirmation Only model that is currently prescribed to gender dysphoric youth in America. We work across political and religious divides, working alongside diverse groups in order to provide the best practices of care to those struggling.

Nancy McDermott
Director, Genspect USA
Nancy McDermott

Nancy McDermott is a writer, speaker, and expert on American parenting culture. She is an affiliate of the Centre for Parenting Culture Studies (CPCS) at the University of Kent at Canterbury, and a former advisor to the Park Slope Parents online community where she earned the moniker “the voice of reason”.

She became concerned about the impact of therapeutic child-rearing while writing her history of American parenting culture since the 1970s, The Problem with Parenting (Praeger 2020). “What began as a well-meaning attempt to free children to ‘be themselves’ has undermined our ability to transfer key cultural values and norms from one generation to the next, Gender distress is the most profound expression of this disorientation. As adults we need to take responsibility for helping our youngest citizens to find their way.”

Shawn Thierry, Esq
Director of Public Policy, Genspect USA
Shawn Thierry

Shawn Thierry is a Texas State Representative and attorney in her fourth term representing District 146. A graduate of Howard University and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, Thierry has been a leading advocate for children’s health and safety, earning recognition as one of Houston’s Top 30 Most Influential Women.

She played a key role in passing SB 14, legislation that raised the minimum age to 18 for gender transition procedures, including puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. Her leadership on this issue was underscored by a powerful speech on the Texas House floor, which garnered over 2.3 million views on social media.

Despite facing significant political backlash from within her own party, Thierry has remained steadfast in her commitment to protecting vulnerable youth. She has also led efforts to enhance school safety through the mandatory installation of silent panic alarms and fought against the deceptive marketing of e-cigarettes to minors.

He went on to do his training at Baylor College of Medicine, one of the country’s most highly regarded surgical programs.

A significant part of his training was at Texas Children’s Hospital, the largest children’s hospital in the world, where he gained critical experience in the field of pediatric surgery. He had the dual privilege of taking care of the sickest children while training under world-renown leaders in the field of pediatric surgery.

Dr. Haim gained widespread recognition after exposing the continued practice of medical procedures related to gender transitioning for minors at Texas Children’s Hospital, despite the hospital’s public statement that these interventions had ceased. His decision to speak out was driven by a deep commitment to ethical medical practices and the protection of vulnerable children.
