Broken Crayons

By Elkie

A message from the artist:

From a very young age I felt incredibly broken. I transitioned when I was 19 after being heavily influenced by older trans adults. The feeling of brokenness only got worse and after 10 years of living as a trans person, I felt like I was broken beyond repair. Part of my detransition journey has been accepting that even though I might feel broken, I am still able to do all the things and I can still have a good life. I learned that I am not beyond repair and that there was really nothing broken about me. A crayon doesn’t lose value simply for being broken and I am not less than simply for feeling broken.

Genspect will be holding a free webinar for Detrans Awareness Day on Tuesday March 12th at 7pm EST. Please register here if you would like to join Laura Becker, Abel Garcia and Forest Smith to hear about the complexities involved with detransition: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_IXINvva0QKeC0O4M9rCo0A
