Since its inception in 2021, Detrans Awareness Day has played a crucial role in raising international awareness about detransition. Thanks in large part to the courageous personal testimonies of detransitioners, important discussions around medical ethics, legal protections, and medical and cultural support are finally gaining momentum in the United States.

Prof Michael Biggs

Sociologist

Michael Biggs is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St Cross College. His distinguished body of work includes articles on social movements and collective protest published in all the leading disciplinary journals. He has critically examined puberty blockers since their introduction as a treatment for gender-distressed children. His findings revealing shoddy research practises have been widely published in academic journals and cited in the media. Prof Biggs served as an expert witness in the landmark Keira Bell judicial review and has been key in uncovering vital information that led to the independent Cass Review on GIDS at the Tavistock.

Dr Louise Irvine

GP & Co-Chair of CAN-SG

Dr Louise Irvine is a General Practitioner and co-chair of the Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender (CAN-SG), a network of over 100 clinicians in the UK and Ireland working to promote professional dialogue and evidence-based care for people experiencing gender-related distress.

Susan Evans

Psychotherapist

Susan Evans is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Retired Clinical Nurse Specialist (SRN RMN). She is a Senior Fellow at the University of East London and a former member of staff at GIDS at Tavistock. Susan raised concerns about the medicalised approach to child gender identity issues in 2005 and initiated the Judicial Review with Mrs. A and Keira Bell in 2019. She is now working in private practice with children, young adults, and families experiencing issues connected to gender identity. Susan is also the co-author of a book with Marcus Evans titled ‘Gender Dysphoria: A Therapeutic Model for Working with Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults.’

Carrie Clark

Genspect UK Director

Carrie Clark is a writer and researcher from the UK whose work focuses on freedom of speech, viewpoint diversity, and classical liberalism as antidotes to ideological capture in institutions. With her friend Helen Pluckrose and a group of volunteers, Carrie founded Counterweight in 2020 to support individuals navigating culture war issues in workplaces, schools, and universities. She later worked with Don’t Divide Us, promoting colour-blind anti-racism, and served as a research officer for the Free Speech Union from 2022 to 2024. Carrie’s research has been featured in The Times, The Telegraph, and the Daily Mail, and her articles appear on platforms such as spiked and Colin Wright’s Substack, Reality’s Last Stand. She currently sits on the Genspect advisory board and is a member of the Killarney Group think tank.
